Let me tell you why.

By Lilian.

Why do Parents Prefer Biblical Names for their Children?

There are three main reasons why parents would want to give their babies biblical names.

Familiarity

Some biblical names are just so popular and remain age-old classic names. For example, John, Samuel, Joshua, Mary, etc.

Family History

The same way some cultures name their kids after their grandparents, the weather, season or momentous events taking place at the time of birth, other people have a family tradition of biblical names.

You find that there’s a string of generations all given biblical names, so parents propagate this family tradition to date.

Religious Background

For parents with a firm Christian foundation, some may choose to give their babies biblical names to connect the kids to the family’s lifestyle and moral values.

Let us now delve right into the specific names and their meanings.
